Contraceptive pill to stop period, help?

Hi,

I'm very, very unfamiliar with contraception. DH and I never used protection due to his fertility issues, we had many, many rounds of ivf to conceive DS... However, somehow I got pregnant twice within a year of DS birth (with one successful pregnancy).

So I went on the copper coil, it's working well but I bleed SO heavy. I'm going to NYC for my 30th birthday, but I've never used any kind of pill but I'm sure my friends use one that can delay their period until they get back off holiday?

Is this even a thing? If so, I'll be booking a doctors appt to ask for it but I have no idea what to say

Can anyone help/advise?

Thank you for reading Smile

Just explain the situation to your doctor and depending on where you are in your cycle and your back ground health the options will vary. This is a fairly common scenario ; if you are having debilitating periods you might also want to discuss your contraception options going forward .

Yes I've had afew times when younger for holidays.
It didn't mess my cycles up after, I would advise to take water retention tablets along side it

Norethisterone is the period delay pill I think
Maybe change the copper coil for the mirena coil as that can help with heavy periods

You can order the norethisterone pills online from places like Superdrug. No need to speak to the doctor to order them, however you would need to pay for them yourself if you order online (I just know some people have long waiting times with their gp's)
