Can I start exercising after c section?

Hi all,

I had my son last January (2021) via c section and my dad died shortly after so I didn't do a whole lot apart from care for a small baby and spent the rest of the time in bed due to the depression and grief so I ended up putting on 4/5 stone sadly and now I'm pregnant again (surprise baby) and will be having a c section in November but I really wanna get my ass in gear so if I start small like of course give my body a week or two to recover and then start waking slowly building up to over 10,000 steps a day until the 6 week mark and then swimming, gym etc would that be okay or would I need to wait longer?

Thank you

I moved house 4 weeks after DD was born by C-section and then was back to the gym after 9 week check. Dr who I spoke with said fine to most exercise but you’ll definitely know if you’ve pushed too far so just to be aware of your limitations.

Walking and swimming are probably your best bit to begin with as well as it’s more gentle. Make sure your diet is in a good place otherwise the exercise you do won’t count for much!

Also, with the best of intentions, you just won’t know how fast you’re likely to heal or how quickly you’ll feel up to anything! I healed quickly, I had a friend who healed far slower and really struggled for the first month. People are all totally different.

I'm sorry for your loss. My consultant said no aerobic exercise until after the six week check and no ab exercises for 12 weeks. I was desperate to get fit again but when I got to those points felt I needed longer.
