Smear test - can I bring my baby?

I have a smear test next week and my usual baby sitter isn’t available. My baby is 9 months old and will be in a pram.

It is reasonable to bring my baby to the smear test appointment?

Yes I’ve done that before and just strapped them in the buggy with a toy and a snack :-)

Yes you can and I did many times. They brought in a second nurse to hold my baby😊

Imthedamnfoolwhoshothim · 17/06/2022 20:37

Yes. I've had to take all 3 of my kids.

Twizbe · 17/06/2022 20:38

Yep I've done it too. They even watched the whole thing.

DS was 3 months and DD was about 1. For DD I kept chatting very light and smiling loads. If she remembers any of it, I want her to remember that it was NBD for me.

iloveyankeecandle · 17/06/2022 20:38

Yep I've done it before. It's over within a few minutes anyway isn't it.

YorkshireTeaCup · 17/06/2022 20:38

Yes i did. No issues whatsoever. I just turned the buggy so she was facing away from the business end 🤣

Verbena87 · 17/06/2022 20:39

Yep, it’s fine. You can ask for a chaperone to hold/chat to baby at our gp surgery.

I took my 3 year old. Sat her down with my phone and let her watch Blippi

Thanks everyone! I thought it would be ok as it’s such a quick event. Cheers all!
