Worried after hysteroscopy for polyps

Hi,

My wife had a hysteroscopy under general anaesthetic last Friday. Ultrasound showed a cervical polyp, a uterine polyp & fibroids.

They took biopsies & removed the polyps plus fitted a Mirena coil. She was a mess after the op but is recovering nicely now.

How long do results take? We're both mega anxious about it plus go on a 2 week holiday (planned for months) a week on Friday...

Thanks.

I had this op under GA a few years ago and got results in two or three weeks I think. Best of luck, I know these waits can be stressful.

Thanks,

I assume given 2-3 weeks you were OK? I have heard that things tend to move faster & by phone if they find anything?

Yes my results were fine - I think you're right, that they will get in touch sooner if not.

Aww sending huge hugs and love. I had a large cervical polyp removed in 2020. They are really really common especially uterine ones. And almost always totally benign like mine. Mine took 3 weeks to come back but my consultant had already said to me it looked fine.
I know its hard not to worry but im sure all will be ok xxxx

I had polyps removed in 2020. Unfortunately mine did turn out to be nasty. However, I knew within 10 days this was the case. Statistically cancerous polyps are rare, something like only 1% to 2% turn out to be malignant. No news is good news, and in the unlikely event that they are nasty, they will move quickly.
