Pea sized lump

Absolutely terrified.. found a pea sized lump in my breast on Monday ( Didn't mention it to partner till Wednesday as it was my birthday on Tuesday and I didn't want the day to be about a lump) I've been to the Dr and am on emergency referral to get it looked at. I'm trying to stay positive and occupied but my already fragile mental health is leading me down a very dark place. I know the likely hood is that it'll be a cyst etc but my goodness this wait is tough.

The two-week pathway is for exactly this scenario, so you can get answers as quickly as possible. Around 90-92% of referrals turn out to be nothing to worry about, cysts, lipoma and blocked ducts can all feel like a lump. If it is anything sinister then you're already on the way to getting it sorted. Try not to panic because the high likelihood is that it's nothing to worry about Flowers

@pinkyboots1 i am in the exact same situation as you right now and only seen the doctor on Wednesday too, the wait has got my mind in overdrive at the moment

Hopefully you'll get seen very soon. Chances are it's a perfectly benign cyst or lipoma.

Years ago I found a lump and luckily was seen privately (parents paid.) It was a lipoma thankfully.

I find keeping busy is a good distraction when anxious, the house never looks tidier than when I'm worried about things.

Sending you all good thoughts x

I went through this in Nov 2019 and it was the worst two weeks of my life. I was so stressed when I did get to the hospital for my scan that I had major diarrhoea in the loo right on the corridor, I was so embarrassed! It turned out to be a cyst, honestly I know it is easy to say but please please try not to worry as much as you can, the vast majority of these things are benign in some way. 💐

Thanks so much for the reassurance... it's so hard trying to keep my brain occupied. Fingers crossed that my appointment comes through soon coz it's the waiting and not knowing that's the worst bit. @Jasminethedogsmum got everything crossed for you too x

How are you doing @pinkyboots1 ?

Y7drama · 07/06/2022 13:55

I had this three weeks ago, turned out to be milk ducts. I hope you hear good news too.

pinkyboots1 · 07/06/2022 14:14

@Gensola .. I've been super up and down mentally but hoping the appointment will come soon. I find it super tough not to touch it every time I'm in the bath, thenot knowing is awful x

It's a tough wait, and it's hard to focus on the fact that with the vast majority of women it's non cancerous.
Try to keep busy, and good luck.
