Ovarian cyst symptoms?

Apologies in advance for the detail!

I’m currently under investigation for ovarian cysts. I had bloods taken early last week and had no contact from my GP so presume these are fine. I was supposed to have a scan within two weeks but there was an issue with the referral, so I am only being seen in 10 days time, nearly four weeks after the referrals were sent.

My symptoms are abdominal and lower back pain (like very bad period pain). This was constant for the full week after my last period but has now subsided and only flares up every few days.

I feel bloated after meals and have to wee more often than usual.

My breasts are very tender and I’m also having internal vaginal pain and light spotting. Definitely not pregnant.

I’m so so worried and waiting for the scan feels like torture.

Had anybody had ovarian cysts with these symptoms? I’m worrying that they indicate something worse.

Thanks if you read to the end.

Those sound like normal symptoms for ovarian cysts. I had similar with a 7cm cyst which was eventually removed and found to be benign. Cysts seem to mess with your hormones and digestion just by being there Sad

I do hope everything goes well at your scan - that's awful you've had to wait so long due to an admin error Flowers

Yes. I get them frequently, they were benign and eventually resolved themselves.

Thank you so much for your quick replies and reassurance, glad to hear they’re normal symptoms

My first cyst came on suddenly. Pain , like period pains throughout the night so went to a&e in the morning when I realised I had taken the maximum dose of paracetamol and was in a lot of pain. The cyst had twisted around a Fallopian tube. Had it removed that day and luckily did not damage the ovary.
The second the doctor at the family planning clinic discovered when fitting a contraceptive cap.Confirmed by a scan. A few years ago now, but I had that removed too a few weeks later. I actually had no symptoms and I think that nowadays maybe it would just be monitored. Many just disappear on their own but your symptoms sound more serious. I hope you get it sorted soon. Waiting for ops these days is horrendous.

For me the cysts usually are just dull pain, until one ruptures. The pain starts off as what feels like bowel problems, always I feel like I need to fart but I can't, like I'm just completely full of air. It normally takes me a minute or two of rolling around trying to break wind or just get comfortable before I realise what's going on (I know how to manage them bursting at home, if the special painkillers don't help then I go to the hospital).

Feeling bloated and having trouble peeing sounds like a cyst to me. They mess with your hormones too. If the pain gets worse suddenly or regular painkillers don't manage it anymore, go to A&E, like another poster said, it could be that it's caused a twist.
