Hello its me again! I have got a really bad problem. When I was pregnant I started getting really bad itchiness down below but on the outside and the clitoris. The gp prescribed me canesten cream which did not help. Then they prescribed me canesten pessaries which didnt help. Then they asked me to do a swab test where the group b strep came back positive. They gave me antibiotics for a week which seemed to help but as soon as they finished everything was back to itching again. I got antibiotics during labour due to the strep b and thought when I have the baby it will be over. But no it was back again and now it is even worse. It is affecting my daily life so much I cant do anything. I cant sleep. I cant wear underwear nor can I wear postpartum pads. Its driving me crazy. The GP has again taken a swab which came back with group b strep still. But I am not sure if this is causing the itchiness. It is so dry down below and so itchy. I seriously dont know what to do neither does the gp. They will probably prescribe antibiotics again but when they finish then it comes back again. Anyone got any idea what I could do? Its not getting better its getting worse! Also I dont know why the group b strep is still there. Could I still pass it on ti my daughter? I am scared🥺

If the GP doesn’t know what to do, can you request that they refer you to a women’s health specialist?

Thats a good idea. I am just concerned that will take a while as referrals can take ages :(

Checklist of things that could be causing the itching/allergic reaction that you need to eliminate -

Laundry detergent and conditioner.

Panty liners if you use them.

Lube.

Bathing and shower products.

Moist toilet wipes and type of toilet paper.

Has anti histamine been suggested to you and have you tried it?

I know someone who had similar trouble with itchiness (though didn’t have group b strep) and after several rounds of antibiotics and thrush treatment that did nothing, she got told it was hormonal and was given some cream that was like HRT in cream form I think? It worked almost instantly.

I had this during pregnancy and was driven crazy. It took multiple swabs but I eventually tested positive for BV even though I had no discharge.

Hydrocortisone also helped calm down the external inflammation, and I used Dermol cream and shower wash.
