I’d appreciate some advice. I’ve had ongoing problems with bleeding and pain after sex for 18 months. In October 2019 I had a smear done by nurse and a letter saying I had hpv but no cell changes and to come back in one year. I was pregnant shortly after this so didn’t go back until January 2021. I didn’t get a letter so rang GP and receptionist said it was ‘clear’. Was still struggling with pain and bleeding so I went back in about March 2021. Nurse took some swabs again and again ‘clear result’. Also sent me for an ultrasound where nothing was seen. DH and I stopped having penetrative sex as I’d be in pain for a day after. November 2021 I asked to see the female doctor and she did more swabs which were clear but she said I had an ectropian but that wouldn’t be causing the pain and bleeding. Had a telephone appointment with the consultant who said I needed to have a coil fitted and he’d ring again in September. I don’t want to have a coil fitted as I have cystic hormonal acne and my derm said coil would be progesterone based.
I’ve now started bleeding with even slight intimate contact so went back to GP but nurse couldn’t see because I was menstruating on the day and told me to come back in a week. I asked the receptionist for my records as considering going private. I also asked if my smear test was definitely clear and she said she couldn’t find a record of any since my 2019 one but she might not have access to all the records. It’s got me worrying that the swabs they’ve taken have all just been to check for infection and they’ve not actually followed up from my hpv positive one in 2019. I have dreadful anxiety anyway so I’m really struggling with the worry about this
