Period/Endometriosis?

I’m late twenties, have always had very heavy periods, slight cramps and the periods last around 8/9 days which I think is quite long?

In the last 3/4 months I’ve had 2 occasions while I’ve been on my period where I get the most horrendous cramps at the very bottom of my stomach. The only way I can explain the pain is like a constant labour contraction. I’m unable to stand up properly and feel sick/faint with the pain (I’m usually quite good at managing pain). These 2 episodes have lasted around 30 minutes and get better gradually but I have no idea what could be causing it. I have looked into endometriosis but from what I can gather it doesn’t sound like it could be that.

Anyone have experience of the same thing?

Yes and in my case anyway endometriosis was the root cause. I've previously ended up flat out on the floor due to pain. Any symptoms that are cyclical in nature and get worse up to and during menses should be checked out to see if endo is present.

Would see your GP and insist there and then on being referred to a gynaecologist. Do not take no for an answer. If your finances allow for an initial consult at a private hospital (e.g Nuffield or Spire) do make an appointment (I suggest that as waiting times within the NHS for gynaecology can be very long).

Do keep a daily pain and symptom diary if you do not already do this; note pain on scale from 1-10 and note details like heaviness of flow, colour of blood etc.
