How much blood is too much blood?

I've had the copper coil for 3 years. The only side effect I have is very heavy periods for a couple days each cycle.

I usually wear a mooncup, cloth sanitary pad AND period pants on those days.

My period started yesterday and today it's heavy as expected. I'm not wearing a mooncup as just in the house so easy enough to change he CSP.

Holy crap there's even more blood than normal. I've had to change the pad 4 times in 90 minutes, and each time there's been a huge clot. About the size of a small mouse (sorry - can't think of anything else). I can actually the feel the clots coming out 🤢

I don't imagine it'll be like this for more than 48h - but that's a lot of blood to lose is it not?

I had bloods taken recently and my iron was a little low but my blood count was fine so they weren't too concerned.

That was my usual 5-7 days a month. I was so happy the day they agreed I could have a hysterectomy! I was on prescription iron tablets for 13 years.

as it’s getting worse for you, do book and have a discussion with the GP to discuss your options.

Yes, book in for a discussion with a GP has as this is out of the norm for you.

I recently had a gynae appointment for a thorough check of my womb etc. Nothing unusual found (triggered by thickened womb lining). However, I have just had the period from hell with clots (and yes could feel them coming), only just slowing now (5 days later). I have been taking prescribed iron tablets but still feel rung out. Also tearful as I've struggled to function this month.

I have another appointment with the GP soon. I'm definitely in the peri-menopause and maybe heading for the menopause. I am requesting a check on my thyroid (as I have aches and pains etc. and also family history and a check on B12 levels etc.)
