I slept with someone unprotected and the next day experienced lots of discharge. A week later I've had slight itching/burning but no sores etc. Ive had the tests for other things done but I am in full on panic mode that its Herpes and my life will be ruined.

I took a thrush pesery which actually helped and the doctors actually gave me some STI medication before my results which is weird and since my discharge has got a little heavier but nowhere near as bad as it was. Ive read up on things because my lips (on face lol) have started tingling but I'm not sure if I'm really hyping myself up and putting things in my head. Theres been no cold sores or anything anywhere and it was 2 weeks ago we slept together. Any advice or reassurance would be appreciated. Im struggling not to have a mental breakdown.

If thrush medication helped I’d assume it’s like to be thrush…

The Herpes Viruses Association helpline has collected many reports that thrush medication makes 'cold sores on the genitals' worse. So since it made it better, it's likely to be thrush. ALSO: it usually takes 2 days minimum before you notice herpes simplex symptoms after you have been in contact with someone's sore.

Hiya just to say I do have herpes (for 5.5 years) and even it is I promise you it's in no way a life ruiner. I've gone on to have a baby and live my life as normal with my partner (we both got outbreaks exactly the same time so no idea who gave it to who). From experience the first outbreak is usually quite severe but the rest get easier, it can lay dormant for a long time and people can have it without knowing for years. So I suggest until you get any sores just try put it from your mind and not worry! With the tingling, any sores would appear within a few days, and if none then probably stress.
If you do end up testing positive for it though please don't worry as it's actually totally fine, and please feel free to message if you need any advice! 🥰
