Novasure endometrial ablation - has anyone had this?

I had this procedure almost 4 weeks ago.
It went well.
I had some light/watery bleeding for a good week or so after (my period was due on the day of the procedure so not sure if the week long blood was that?), this then trailed off to a regular, watery orange/brown discharge, continuing ever since.
Today I have noticed that it has become more blood like. I am still tracking my period and would be due in the next few days.
I will monitor the blood and hope it doesn’t get any heavier as I am dreading the procedure failing and going back to the return of the horrendous heavy bleeding I normally get, really dreading it.
My friend had an ablation 5 years ago and hasn’t had one drop off blood since, so I am panicking mine has failed.
My follow up after the op is not until August.
Has anyone had this procedure? Did you have any bleeding or period after?

I had mine about 8 weeks ago. I had some light bleeding for a couple of weeks and like you I was CD 1 when I had the procedure.

I've had 2 periods since. My pre menstrual spotting hasn't changed. Though now I think that might be my cervical ectropion bleeding. My period however has dramatically changed. I've gone from 7 days to 3 and from bleeding through super plus tampons in an hour to barely anything.

I feel a lot better as well. I hadn't realised how ill my periods had made me.

You can ring your surgeon's office and ask to speak to them if you've got any concerns

I was like your friend. Watery discharge and then nothing. Previously I'd go through an ultra tampon and a towel in 20 minutes and was seriously anaemic so I was very happy.
Hopefully yours will settle down but you could give the ward a ring to see if they want to check you sooner.

I had mine done a year ago and have bled every month since 😬, it hasn’t made much difference to me at all other than making my periods slightly shorter and lighter. I bled and had discharge for a few weeks after.

I'm hoping your bleeding has settled down. I'm 3.5 weeks post op and I feel like my bleeding and cramps are never going to end. Post op is tomorrow. Fingers crossed.

I had the procedure done 2 years ago and it made little difference to my heavy periods, I am now bleeding almost all the time and will likely need a hysterectomy. Sadly it doesn’t work for everyone. I kept getting told “it will settle”but it didn’t.

Just seen it’s a old post which I already replied too😂

Lisaav I bled (fairly heavy) every month for 6 months post op then all of a sudden they stopped, I now have just very light bleeding. However, this seems to have caused awful pain every month, as though the blood is still trying to push through and nowhere to go?. I’m waiting to see the gynaecologist but have been told it’s a 9 month wait! Hopefully yours will calm down too soon.
Lovemusic33 that’s such a shame. I think I will need a hysterectomy in the end as the pain seems to be getting worse every month!

@Thetoasterhasbroken I can't believe it's a 9 month wait! How frustrating. I hope you get answers/relief soon.

I was referred back to gynaecologist in February and am still waiting. I asked for the coil to be fitted (last resort) but I have been told it needs to be done by gynaecology because of the ablation, apparently it’s risky, I have been told I may have to wait a year. This month I have had one day that I haven’t bled, it’s just awful.

Thetoasterhasbroken · 19/07/2023 18:01

Lovemusic33 my gynaecologist said the same to me. He said I could have had the coil at the time of the ablation or at a later time but he would need to do it. He did tell me that the scarring could form over the cervix and the coil could get ‘stuck’ there which put me off tbh. My gynae said they can do the ablation a second time if that’s something you would consider? He said sometimes the machine misses areas the first time around.
