No period - not pregnant

I'm wondering at what point I see a GP. I came off the pill at the start of January, had a withdrawal bleed a few days later and since then I've not had a period.

When I came off the pill before, my cycles did take a while to return but not this long, and also once they returned I do have long cycles - up to 50 days could be normal. But I'm panicking now that something else could be wrong. I'm definitely not pregnant as I came off the pill due to DH having had the snip, plus I've tested just to make sure!

Are you overtraining, underweight, under stress, possibly menopausal?

usernotfound0000 · 29/04/2022 21:13

Definitely not underweight. I do exercise around 5 times a week but only 40/50 minutes a day and I wouldn't say excessively. Not stressed. 39 so I wouldn't have thought menopause but I guess it isn't impossible,

See your GP if it doesn’t reappear soon. Mine stopped when I was 23 due to hyperthyroidism (easily treated, I’m 52 now).

I'll be honest, I've not missed my period! Not TTC obviously so it was only when I checked my calendar that I realised it had been so long. I think I'll call the GP on Monday and see what they say.

Hi OP

I also came off the pill at the start of January (new year's day!) and had started to get worried about my lack of period. I read up on it a lot and although most women have a period within three months of coming off the pill, it's considered normal/acceptable for it to take 6-12 months.

I had told myself I'd make a GP appointment at the start of May, but my period finally arrived last week.

Hopefully yours will make an appearance soon :)

Hi OP, I had this when I came off the pill.. drs told me that they would leave it til 6months of no period before they investigated. Turned out to be PCOS in my case (had come off the oil to TTC) even tho I wasn't showing most of the typical symptoms.

Have you had covid during that time? That screwed mine up.

I have wondered previously if I might have this. As I said, my periods are very irregular anyway and it took almost 2 years to conceive. I might give it another month then and see if anything happens.
I was more concerned that it might be something more sinister that is the cause. As my childbearing days are done, I don't have much urgency to look into things as long as it wasn't an indicator of something worse.

Well I have, but my Covid was at the end of March, by which point it was already 10 weeks after my withdrawal bleed. But I suppose it could have caused further delay.

@usernotfound0000 I must admit, I too was worried there was a sinister cause of my lack of period. Worth looking into for sure if it continues, but hopefully it'll resolve itself or there'll be a reason for it that isn't a worry. If it is pcos, it'll be easy enough to manage - especially since no plans for conceiving!
