I’m 49, still having regular periods which have become very heavy on the first few days for the last couple of years. I assume that this was due to peri menopause but at a recent gynae check up she did a vaginal ultrasound and found a uterine polyp which she thinks is the reason for the increased bleeding. I’m sure to go back for another ultrasound as soon as my current period finishes.
The thing that’s concerning me though is a major change in period pain over the past few months. I used to get what I assume are normal uterine cramps, pain in the pelvic area. Recently I’ve been getting a lot of very sharp, breathtaking pain across the top of my stomach, just below my waist. It’s like a line of pain just below my waistband. It’s linked to my period, doesn’t occur at other times.
i will ask the gynae about this too, but wondered if anyone had experienced this.
