Lump in Vagina Area

Hi all,

The lump in question is actually in/on my 21 yr old DD's vagina/vulva. Its quite firm, grape sized, moves up and down? , not painful. It makes inserting a tampon difficult and she can feel it when she's sitting down on a firm seat. So it's just at the entrance of her vagina canal ? She isn't sexually active. Doesn't take the pill, etc. We visited the GP last November who just said it may be a cyst (quite a junior doctor IMO) and referred her to Gynae at our local hospital. The hospital are still working on GP referrals from August 2021 but the lump does worry me.

DD also has a fibroadenoma (breast mice) in her breast and for all the reasons that GP said it wasn't likely to be cancer, ie soft, painful, moveable - well the vagina lump is totally the opposite. Surely if it was a bartholin cyst, it would have become more painful by now or popped, become infected, got a lot bigger ? I've never experienced either of these issues.

Any words of wisdom for me please ? Thanks very much xx

Might it be a prolapse...? Unusual but not impossible at all to get one so young. I'd try to get an appointment with a women's health physio or a urogynacologist.

Hi, it sounds like it could be a Bartholins cyst to me, definitely tell DD to keep an eye on it because it can become infected. Hope she is seen soon
