Breast clinic

Saw the GP yesterday about some lumpy tissue in my breast. They acknowledged something was there but said it felt like normal breast tissue, but to reassure me they would put in a non urgent referral for a scan.

I had a little moan about it being non urgent but they were adamant and explained why.

I then receive a text saying I’ve had an urgent 2 week referral, then today got a call from the clinic with an appointment this Friday!

i am anxious at the best of times, but there is no way the GP was more concerned than they let on to me; right? I am hoping the breast clinic are just highly efficient!

I don't know if this is any help, but I had an appointment at the breast clinic via the 2 week rule a fortnight ago. The staff at the clinic were incredible, everything was so efficient. Men weren't allowed in, just the patients as we were all sitting around in gowns.

I saw the consultant first for an examination, he then ordered a mammogram and ultrasound scan. I went straight for the mammogram, and then for a scan about 10 minutes later before seeing the consultant again for the results (thankfully clear).

It was so well run and the staff were all so friendly and kind. Absolutely wonderful service.

Best of luck.

PS my GP said that all breast lumps etc are referred under the 2 week rule even if they're fairly sure it isn't cancer. My husband is also a GP and said the same.
