I think I have a UTI had bad lower back pain for 4 days and stomach cramps on and off and urgency to urinate has become a lot stronger.

My partner has covid at the moment and my doctors are closed for the bank holiday weekend until Tuesday. If I call 111 can they prescribe antibiotics ? Where I live there are no out of hours gps annoyingly and not sure they would want me there given my partner being I’ll with covid. Not sure how it works ? Thanks

I got antibiotics over the phone on 111 when I had mastitis last year!! So I think once you get a doc to call you back you can have antibiotics

111 won’t prescribe antibiotics, but they should be able to signpost you to someone who can, depending on what is available in your area (out of hours GP, walk in centre, etc).

Doesn't LLoyds do this online? Try it?

and I think Superdrug does it too. You answer the questions and they can prescribe and then you collect the drugs (I think).

Drink water. Lots of water. More water than you think you can drink. Then lucozade and sports drinks for the electrolytes.

I regularly get UTI’s and can usually see it off by drinking my own bodyweight by the time I get anywhere near a dr Hmm

Yes. Ring 111. A GP will ring you back and if is certain it’s a UTI will send prescription to local pharmacy for you to pick up. Hope you feel better soon. X

The cystitis relief sachets you can buy are often quite effective if you take them early (I got rid of one last month with these, but I took them the day it started). If you don't have low back pain, fever or nausea then it may be fine to treat at home.

However, yes 111 can get you antibiotics.

Thanks everyone !

I have just got into bed and drank as much water as I can since I posted this. Feels like period cramps in my lower stomach and lower back on and off really annoying. I will call them first thing in the morning. I have been dip testing my urine for the past few days at home with the strips and it kept showing as clear every time so I wasn’t too worried but now I am. Mustn’t be picking it up for some reason

Yes. A doctor will call you and issue prescription.
