Please help me sort out my crap thin hair

My hair has always been quite crap (fine, thin, curly but not in a good way) and now it’s just awful. I’ve lost loads, no bald patches but it’s thinner than ever with lots of baby hair regrowth, ick.

I know all this is normal (post babies, pre menopause, post Covid, who knows) but I really want to improve it.

What can I do?

Skin hair and nails vitamins? Collagen? Biotin? Iron supplements? Olaplex? Nioxin? Happy to try anything really but can I do any or all these things at the same time? Is it dangerous to mix a multivitamin and specific hair vitamins for example? Can you overdose on Vitamin C by mixing vitamins?

Thanks in advance for any help.

Yes!! You can overdose on vitamin C!

You can even overdose on water if you drink enough.

Please be careful!!!

I had a hair thinning issue due a health problem some years ago.

This shampoo helped

Also well woman max vitamins 3 for 2 at boots about £20 a pop.

Try things like this first.

Hair masks could help too. You need to strengthen the hair, be gentle and avoid over heating.

You do lose a lot of hair post babies.

If it really bothers you go to a clinic to try and find improvement but start with your vitamins and better quality products first.

I've had good results by using Nixon and taking a Biotin supplement, good luck!

lurknolinger · 18/04/2022 00:02

Nioxin (bloody autocarrot strikes again Grin)

I've heard of oil treatments and scalp massage to stimulate growth and going sulphate phosphate free with your products. Also invest in a silk pillowcase

The Reddit group r/FemaleHairLoss is amazing, just bear in mind that if you use any product with minoxidil in, it's very toxic to cats.

Theblacksheepandme · 24/04/2022 19:21

What are you doing with your hair at the moment? What products are you using? Do you use a lot of heat on your hair? How is your diet?

AngelaRayner4PM · 24/04/2022 19:33

I take one for skin, hair and nails, collagen 2x a day and also increased my healthy fats from things like fatty fish, avocados, full fat dairy, olives, seeds and nuts. I also eat a lot of probiotics which may have helped too. My hair was very thin and brittle I had actually bald spots and it is completely recovered now. I did also use hair oils and stopped heat treating so heavily. It is not in good enough condition that I have been able to start colouring again which I never though I would (although it is luck greyer now!)

If you can get blood tests from the GP I’d start there because a dodgy thyroid or low iron/ferritin will stop hair growth so if you don’t resolve that no amount of shampoo will help.
