I know side effects can be different for everyone, but have avoided birth control pills now for 2 years after giving myself a break and getting a bit apprehensive towards taking them again…

Did you get side effects or? X

I was on Cerazette for four years, after my youngest was born.

I put on weight, but think that was the only side effect. (To be honest, I could have done more to stop myself putting on the weight, but I didn't.)

My periods completely stopped, which I enjoyed!

For me it pretty much stopped my periods and totally killed my sex life. I was so dry that sex or a smear test were incredibly painful.

hernameis · 14/04/2022 12:49

I was on cerazette too

MakkaPakkas · 14/04/2022 12:51

I had:
Constant spotting
No sex drive
Mild depression
Quite high anxiety and panic attacks.

Lots of people don't get the last two and I'm not sure if they're listed as side FX, but if you go on the pop and find you're having these symptoms it's worth stopping the pill to see if it's the cause. All my symptoms were gone so quickly after stopping.

I was on cerazette which also has desogestrel (classed as POP but not strictly accurate).

My life has been transformed for the better. The only notable side effect is my periods stopping completely.

However I started taking in after asking my GP in all seriousness for a hysterectomy to eliminate my horrific periods, their sensible suggestion was to give this a go first. I'm so pleased I did.

I tried Cerazette and it was awful. Continuous bleeding, dreadful mood swings and bad acne which I was more than a bit miffed about in my 40s. Switched to Noriday which is norethisterone and that was fine with no side effects at all.

I’m on cerazette just over a year and ive lost half my hair ! I’m so so depressed that I’ve lost hair and I don’t know what to do, I went to the doctors and she looked at me as if I was mad when I said the pill has caused it she said oh I’ve never heard of that which is ridiculous because after I got back from the doctors she made me think twice but I read the side effects and it says clearly that 1 in 100 get hair loss but I think it’s a lot more than that after researching! My blood test results were all fine everything was normal so nothing there! I breast fed for 6 months that was over a year ago I did it with my first but experienced on hair loss as I wasn’t taking the pill then! I don’t know what to do it i stop it my husband won’t be happy with me so I’m stuck! Sad

I felt horrific on prog only pill, I had an emotional breakdown in the doctors office who told me to stop taking it as I was probably progesterone intolerant.

Very frequent low level bleeding, like when your period is starting but about 50% of the time without any pattern to it. Also low sex drive and low mood.
However it works for plenty of women, and can completely stop periods for some.
Just keep an eye on your emotional state as I found that was a gradual change over time rather than a quick obvious side effect.
