Cerazette Advice...Never Ending Period

HollyBlue85 · 13/04/2022 18:40

I started Cerazette just over a month ago and was initially happy with it until my period started around 2 weeks ago and it hasn't stopped!!

It's not particularly heavy (maybe a regular tampon's worth a day) but I now feel constantly tired, with a low level headache.

The whole point of my wanting to try Cerazaette is to stop my periods but it's done the complete opposite.

Shall I persevere or just give up?

I had this on cerazette. It was bloody crap and lasted months. I switched to the depo injections instead and they were much better (in terms of bleeding, although they made me gain a lot of weight very quickly!).

Thanks for your replies!! I am seriously considering giving up and trying either depo/mirena coil Smile

I had this but it did settle and now no issues and no periods for years!

Iheartmysmart · 13/04/2022 19:46

I gave up with Cerazette after about 6 weeks. Constant bleeding was combined with massive spots and an overwhelming desire to murder people who annoyed me, which were many. Tried Noriday which was much better.

LittleBirdBlu · 13/04/2022 19:48

I had this for months!! By 5 months my doctor told me to take 2 together every day, which I've been doing for 2 years now, hardly ever bleed at all now.

HollyBlue85 · 13/04/2022 20:13

MissMaple82 So there could be some hope? Do you remember how long it took roughly?

Omg it was awful! Never ending period and my mood was terrible... like literally crying all the time! Put me off trying any others!

lookingsusbro · 13/04/2022 22:11

I constant moderate to heavy bleeding with cerazette, plus really bad pms constantly. I switched to noriday and its much better. I still have periods but it's gradually gone from 4-5 days of heavy bleeding to 2-3 days of very light bleeding. I still get pms but it's at a 'normal' level for a few days rather than murderous all the time on cerazette.

There are many different mini pills and they work differently for different people so I'd go back to the gp and insist on trying something else. They tried to get me to wait 6 months but after 4 weeks I was borderline anaemic and got lucky with a go who listened and switched me to a different mini pill.

HollyBlue85 · 14/04/2022 09:05

Thank you so much everyone for your replies Smile Where I'd only really heard positive things about Cerazette I wondered if it was just me!!

So, I'm going to go back to the GP and try another mini pill. Failing that I'm going to give the Mirena coil a go Smile

I was on this pill for 5 years no problem! Best pil ever…

Until suddenly I started bleeding constantly. I was gutted but this went on for a year and had to give it up..

Mrsworried1 · 19/04/2022 22:23

Been on this three months and bled for the last 7 weeks!

Getting tired now.

When would anyone say to give up?

Gynaecologist said try 6 months but I don’t see an end to this which is really disappointing because I hoped it would be a magic cure for my intermenstrual bleeding but in fact it’s making matters worse! X

OneForTheRoadThen · 22/04/2022 16:04

@Mrsworried1 I had this for a good 6 months I'd say but it's settled down now and I have a period every 2 or 3 months. I was considering giving up on Cerazette as it also made me really anxious and tearful but I persevered as I was worried about getting something like the coil and then also having side effects but it being much more difficult to remove than just stopping the pill. There was light at the end of the tunnel for me but it took time and was bloody annoying while it did.

VariationsonaTheme · 22/04/2022 16:06

I had this, and gave up after three full weeks of bleeding.
