I have had years of heavy periods. I have had to live my life around my periods and ended up so anaemic I needed iron infusions.
Yesterday, I had a uterine ablation in a hysteroscopy clinic, under a local.
The procedure wasn’t too bad and pain was not that bad either.
The gynaecologist said it went well and I asked him if I’d experience much pain after the anaesthesia had worn off, he said no.
However, when I walked back to the car, I started to feel very crampy in that area. By the time I got home it was really quite painful, a constant tooth ache type pain which radiated to my back and hips/legs (I have a weird, tilted uterus which leans back and to the left so not sure if this contributed to the back/hip pain?).
The pain continued all evening (had the procedure at 4.30pm), I ended up going to bed at 7pm and tossed and turned with the discomfort. Took 2 paracetamol which didn’t touch it then a nurofen which seemed to help a little.
Luckily I did eventually sleep and had a good night.
I’ve woken up this morning and (fingers crossed) the pain seems to have subsided, just passing some blood, like a light period.
Really hoping the op has been successful and the pain doesn’t come back.
Has anyone had this done? How was your recovery?
