Sudden dryness down below and late period

Yesterday, my vulva suddenly became extremely dry, itchy and sore. Also my period is five days later than usual (and still not turned up, although my cycles are usually only 22 days).

Any suggestions? There was a recent thread with some tips on how to manage the discomfort, but has anyone had anything similar and what did it turn out to be? This dryness has come on so suddenly and is so uncomfortable, I've never suffered from anything like this before.

I'm in my early thirties so I don't think it's the menopause, and I don't think I'm pregnant as I had a 'proper' period last month ,.. I'm a bit stumped.

Thanks in advance

Are you absolutely sure you're not pregnant? Not sure why having a period last month means you're not unless you've not had sex since?

But sounds awful. Hope someone comes along with some advice soon Thanks

Thank you very much, it's nice to have sympathy when I'm feeling sorry for myself GrinAnd yes, no sex since my last period - should have made that clear.

Also my terrible grasp of biology - it's not my vulva, it's my labia minora that is dry and sore. Had to google that!

You need to be aware of POI - premature ovarian insufficiency- which leads to premature menopause. It can affect 1:1000 women.
Lots online and also the Daisy Network charity run by drs for this.

Not saying it's what you have but be aware and if it gets worse, see your GP and ask for a referral to a specialist.
