Dragging feeling in ovaries but no cysts

Hello, I've been experiencing a 'dragging sensation in my lower abdomen for a couple of months now and it's unpleasant at night and stopping me sleeping well. I had a ultrasound today as assumed it was ovarian cysts as have had these before. But there were none. Everything looked fine on the scan (which is obv a huge relief) but still wondering what this pain could be. I am 45 and going through peri-menopause if relevant. Has anyone experienced anything similar or could suggest what might be going on. Thanks

Has anyone suggested prolapse to you? Uterine or bladder? Might be that.

Would that have been picked up on my ultrasound though? I have had 4 natural births so could be an issue but I run regularly and everything stays where it should do!

No it wouldn't. A scan doesn't diagnose prolapse.

They are often diagnosed when standing up as when you have a scan you are lying down.

When you say you run and everything stays where it should, how do you know?

There are 3 grades of prolapse and the very worst type is when the uterus comes out beyond the vaginal opening. You also don't have to leak with a prolapse to have one!

The best way to check is to examine yourself when standing up and see if anything seems low - your cervix.

Thank you Jingle, had gynaecology appointment today and it is indeed a prolapse, good shout! Grade 2 and op booked in for repair. She said I may not be able to run again which would be gutting as my only hobby!
