So after 18 months of having my mirena I've took the plunge to get it removed next Thursday, and to be honest, I can not wait. Whilst my story isn't horrendous like the ones I've read on here, I just wanted to get a feel of anyone else has felt the same, and how you got on after removal, I have really really enjoyed not having periods, but what I haven't enjoyed is feeling PMS for 3 weeks out of 4 of the month, and my boobs are absolutely in horrendous pain, and huge, and this seems to be constant, I couldn't originally put my finger on it, january 2021 ( 6 months after it was put in) I noticed my hair was falling out and went incredibly brittle, I've read a few threads they had the same but put it down to stress of lockdown of having covid and didn't know, the other was a gradual weight gain, no matter what I do, and I mean no matter what it won't shift, I stopped weighing my self and threw away my scales November last year, my skin seems very hormonal, but it's the wierd water retention, what tipped me over the edge was a few days ago when my boobs were literally pulsing and thought I just can't do this anymore, i honestly feel like once I have it removed it's going to be an instant relief, im hoping I get a period straight away aswell, before the coil I've had the mini pill, absolutely loved it, no problems what so ever, untill after my second, I waited a year but the bleeding wouldn't stop and put it down to potentially not agreeing with me any more, so my nurse recommended mirena, I'm a migraine sufferer so my options are limited, I'm going to have a couple of months hormone free which I'm super excited and may look into the temperature thing, I'll be asking my nurse if I can try the mini pill again as I'm not 3 years post birth, however I won't take it for a few months o just want to feel in control again, my husband would happily have the snip but I'm 29 and he is 33 and it's such a huge decision to make even though we do not want another baby, it's just that final feeling
