Cyklo F/tranexamic acid - why can't I buy it over the counter any more? Can I get it online?

I rarely use it, just when I really can't manage my usual heavy periods for some reason (like today when I had a long train journey with a disabled DC). But I've reached the end of the pack I bought about 3 years ago and now find it's no longer sold in Boots but the pharmacy staff didn't know why.

Anyone know? Is there an alternative available OTC?

I had this exact thing earlier this year. The staff denied it was ever otc! I had to speak to gp to get a prescription. I even showed them the nhs page that shows it is otc but they still said it had never been available like that!

I definitely bought mine OTC, it's only lasted so long because I forgot to take any on holiday with me in 2019 and had to go into a tiny little Boots on Anglesey and buy a new pack! So ended up with 2 boxes, and use it so rarely that they've only just run out. Did the GP just prescribe it without quibbling? I wonder why it was withdrawn from OTC sale

It definitely used to be available OTC. I’m post menopause, had a massive bleed, toddled along to the pharmacy to get some and was nonplussed to be told it’s now prescription only.

I had no trouble at all getting the prescription. Just a quick telephone appointment and it was put on repeat :)

I just can't find any reason it was taken off sale, no safety recall or anything?!
