Blood comes out when I squeeze nipple

mamabear00 · 12/03/2022 12:26

I woke up this morning a saw a small red stain on my t shirt where my left nipple would be, so I squeezed it and blood came out.

My youngest child is almost 3 years old and I haven't breastfed him since he was 6 months so it's not breastfeeding related.
I am really scared and don't know what to do.
I recently moved to a new city so don't even have a Gp to see on Monday.

I would see the doc if I were you, just for the peace of mind of knowing that it is not cancer. Anything abnormal about breasts should be checked. It is probably nothing important, but think how great it would be to know that for sure!

inheritancetrack · 12/03/2022 13:02

Go to a walk in centre if you don't have a GP or can't register and be seen urgently. This needs checking asap. You ring 111 for a referral to a GP

itshappened · 12/03/2022 13:02

I echo the message above, definitely book in to see a doctor asap. Most changes turn out to be nothing; but it is important to get them checked nonetheless. Try not to worry but make sure you do get this checked.

Aquamarine1029 · 12/03/2022 13:03

This needs looking at right away.

mamabear00 · 12/03/2022 13:05

Thank you all so Much for your replying. I will ring 111 and see what they say.
I am shaking right now only because I felt like something was off with me in the last few months 😢

I hope you get seen soon to set your mind at rest

TrooBloo · 12/03/2022 13:15

Just to reassure you, cysts can cause this. Good luck op x

mamabear00 · 12/03/2022 13:25

111 said someone will call me in the next 24 hours.

Mischance · 12/03/2022 13:28

24 hours to worry in - that is very hard for you. But you are doing the right thing. It just needs checking out - well done.

Nelliephant1 · 14/03/2022 11:19

How are you doing OP? 💐

mamabear00 · 14/03/2022 11:43

@Nelliephant1 worried and frustrated. The out of hours doctor called me on Saturday and booked me an appointment to see the doctor, who checked for signs of infection and sent me home. She said only your Gp can refer you to the breast clinic and that there's not much they can do until then.

I just collected the Gp registration forms and told the lady at the reception about my situation and she said registrations can take up to 4 weeks but she will try to do it as quick as she can.

Blood still coming out and isn't getting light 😢

Oh dear - flaming bureaucracy. How very frustrating for you.

Go to the surgery and book in as a temporary resident and ask to be seen straight away.

Indoctro · 14/03/2022 12:53

Can you afford a private mammogram because if so I would get one I wouldn't wait they are about £200. I'd need peace of mind now and I think you could be waiting weeks.

mamabear00 · 14/03/2022 13:20

@Mischance I didn't know about that,I'll ring them in a bit and see if I can get an appointment that way

@Indoctro Money is tight at the moment but it looks like I'll have to think about private Gp if I don't get to see anyone this week.

Where in the country are you? I know there are some walk in nhs breast clinics near me, so it might be worth searching the nhs website to see if that is an option.

OrlandointheWilderness · 14/03/2022 13:59

See the doctor - but I had this a few years ago and it proved nothing serious after investigation.

mamabear00 · 14/03/2022 14:13

@OrlandointheWilderness I'm glad to hear it was nothing serious.
@itshappened I'm in London.

OP posts:
itshappened · 14/03/2022 14:57

It looks like most of the walk-ins are private in london but might be worth searching for mobile breast screening locations to see if there is one you can visit.

JinglingHellsBells · 14/03/2022 16:21

@mamabear00 One option in London is to register with an online GP like the one run by Babylon. They employ NHS GPs so you won't pay and they can refer you for investigations.

LesLavandes · 14/03/2022 16:26

You can go to a gp as a temporary visitor.

Guys Hospital has a walk-in centre

HollowTalk · 14/03/2022 16:28

I hope you get to see someone soon. Have you actually cancelled your connection with your previous doctor? I wonder whether if you could phone them and ask to talk to them.

JinglingHellsBells · 14/03/2022 19:32

You can get a private GP appt for around £100 but there are NHS walk-ins I think at Kings Cross station and several other places, as PP said.

Whoam · 14/03/2022 19:37

Hi, I had a breast abcess in October and was told by my gp to go to A&e so that they can refer me to breast clinic. I went on a Monday and had to go back on Tuesday to breast clinic for a mammogram. I'm in London too. I went to st George's. There breast clinic (the rose centre) were amazing. Please think about going down this route.
