Dermoid Cyst

Hi,

Yesterday at my ultrasound I was told I’ve got a 3cm dermoid cyst on my left ovary, that won’t go away on its own. They told me to call the GP on Monday to be referred to the Gyne, but from past experience I think this could take months and I’m worried it may grow bigger. My main worry is potentially losing the ovary if the cyst grows bigger as I have been reading about these cases online!

Has any experienced a dermoid cyst before?

I had one. That’s the one that grows hairs and eyes (boak!) I waited a good few months, couple of operation cancellations and it grew to 8cm and got it removed eventually no problems.

Yours is really small OP and they grow slowly I think. I had one that wasn’t much bigger (5cm) and the Surgeon recommended removing it. I had it taken out and all is well.

They do grow really slowly, I don't think they'll even operate till 5cm (my dr wouldn't anyway).

I had one removed. It was 5cm. I think that’s the smallest they will remove them.
