Bleeding after hysteroscopy

HoldMeCloseImTryingToDanceHere · 05/03/2022 13:21

I had a hysteroscopy on Tuesday and had a bit of bleeding.
Nothing on Wednesday.
Thursday I started bleeding heavily and haven’t stopped yet. Loads of clots too.
I’m not due a period for another week or so, but it could have come early maybe?

I know I’m not meant to be using tampons so I’m not, but it’s a lot for pads to cope with!

Has anyone else had heavy bleeding after, and how long did it last?
I feel horrible!

You should have been given a contact number to call in case you had any symptoms after the procedure.

I suggest you try to find a contact and talk to them.

Infections and pain are possible after this but not usually heavy bleeding.

Is there a reason for the hysteroscopy that could also tie in with having an irregular heavier period anyway? Clearly you had it done for a reason.

I had some light bleeding I think for a couple of days and then my period was due. I think you should call your gynaecologist xx

I've got increased bleeding after mine 5 days ago, I called the help number I was given and was advised not to worry too much, but if it gets really heavy or I feel feverish/unwell, then to call my GP.

Yours sounds heavy, I'd be inclined to check with GP - were you given an aftercare help number by the hospital where your hysteroscopy was done?

I’m so sorry, I didn’t see any replies to my post until now.

Just when I thought I was going to be bleeding forever it slowed down. Was giving it one more day before calling the hospital.

I’m wondering if it was an early period that was triggered by the disruption.
Now I have no idea when I’m due again!

Thank you for the replies Flowers

Update I'm case this helps anyone going through sane - after 7 days of cramping, increasing bleeding and clots, it has started to ease off.

I did phone the hospital abd they said it can carry on for a while.
