Had a recall from my first mammogram last week, am slightly freaking out, tho trying not to worry. Any tips on calming strategies! 😩😬

Sorry that you are going through this. It is very hard waiting for the results. There are many many benign breast conditions. It is likely to be nothing. Try to distract yourself as much as you can at this stage.

Cratos · 20/02/2022 14:15

Did they say what they saw in your mammogram? Was it a letter?

QueenieMum · 20/02/2022 14:32

I had this after my first mammogram. I was warned after I'd had it that because it was my first one I had a higher chance of being recalled as they didn't have any previous scans to compare too. They did find something that they wanted to test so I went back for more scans and a biopsy. Turned out to be a 'breast mouse' that I'd likely had for years. At my next mammogram they'll be able to compare the new scan with the previous one and see if anything has changed.

I was worried sick when it happened to me so I don't have any tips for that I'm afraid, other than to bear in mind what I was told initially. I told myself that if it was bad news at least I would know and I could find out what options I had.

Best of luck

I am in the same boat - I got letter last week saying my results are unclear. I am trying to keep it in perspective - but am still quaking inside.

Killermontstreet · 20/02/2022 14:38

I have a thread in general health about it - I got some really helpful replies.

Nickie1 · 20/02/2022 14:47

Thank you, that is what my head is saying!
Just says in the letter m, further tests

Yes, she warned me too after I'd had it done. I've never heard of a breast mouse before! I think I'm the same, my way of coping is to go to full scale catastrophic consequences and trying to see myself coping with that, instead of listening to reason and looking at the facts and statistics!

I was recalled after my first mammogram and was convinced they had found something awful. I was beside myself. It turned out there was an area that couldn't be seen properly- probably folded skin so all was ok. I can't say yours will be ok but please try not to worry- even if there is something it will probably be nothing to worry about and even if it's something nasty the outcomes can be very good. Easier said than done I know- I have anxiety around health so can be more logical with others than myself! X

Nickie1 · 20/02/2022 15:42

Thank you! That's so often the way isn't it, I'm trying to believe myself, what I would say if it were a friend.
I'm going to stay busy and eat all the chocolate biscuits till the appt on Weds! X

When I got the recall letter I called the hospital and sobbed down the phone to the receptionist asking for more info- she couldn't tell me anything because she didn't know anything but I was convinced she was withholding information because it was bad news! I would be feeling just like you now- it's so hard to be logical not emotional. Do whatever brings you joy and comfort and come back to let us know how things go. Will be thinking of you and checking back X

All done, found a cyst and some super tiny calcifications. Consultant said her gut said it was ok, but had a biopsy to rule anything nasty out. Results next Thurs.
one very bruised boob!

Thanks for the update - fingers crossed for next week. Good that they are being so thorough.

QueenieMum · 24/02/2022 21:04

You have my sympathy, boob biopsies hurt!! Fingers crossed the results are ok.

Nickie1 · 03/03/2022 17:00

Phew.... all benign and ok, thank you for all the comments. Thought I'd update with the good news. What a worrying 2 weeks! I'm going to have a glass of champagne and a good nights sleep. Interestingly I asked her about the old hrt, I thought she'd be a bit more diplomatic, but she was quite direct about it.... don't take it if you don't really need it, there are risks. Going to come off it for a bit and see how it goes x
