Losing myself after baby

Hi,

Gave birth to my first baby in June. Love her to pieces. Being her mum is the best ever but just wondering how long it took you to feel back to normal weight wise after giving birth?

I've never been overweight. I've always remained a healthy weight. However since getting older (I'm now 30) & obviously having my little girl I probably have put on a few pounds but nothing major. I'm feeling really paranoid about it. I don't feel good about myself at all even down to the clothes I'm wearing. I dont even know what suits me anymore where as before having my baby girl I knew the exact styles which suited me.
I feel like ive lost myself abit and even when I make an effort with myself I still just don't feel good.

Do you think this is normal after having a baby. It has been nearly 8 months now.

Saw your post and found it hard to believe there hasn't yet been a response. I found the same as you that I somehow "disappeared" a little after my firstborn. In retrospect I was exhausted for the first eighteen months. My son did not sleep well so had broken nights and long days. I never had the extra energy, nor inclination to consider what I needed. It will come back to you. Having a first child is a huge adjustment plus it takes your body a long time to recover. I had friends who had children and bounced back remarkably quickly which only exacerbated my feelings. In retrospect I should have taken multi vitamins and napped when the baby did, leaving the pressures of housework, etc, for when I felt livelier. Hope you are well; looking after yourself as well as you look after your baby and soon begin to thrive.
