😬 Well sex has gradually got more uncomfortable as time has gone on! I’m 41 now and it just feels like the friction has just ripped through my vajayjay walls 😳
I don’t think this has got anything to do with my pelvic floor exercises that I have not been doing! Imagine it was even tighter!? No thanks so I got this stuff SYLK From boots and I think I’m supposed to put it in there just to hydrate all the time. Seems a bit of a waste since we only have sex like every few months 😆 Use KY too but still OUCH during and after. I tried to ignore it during but I can only help think this is problem is going to get worse

Anyone else?

Peri menopause can cause this. It did for me. You can get topical estrogen that is applied vaginally and it will help a lot.

JinglingHellsBells · 13/02/2022 17:09

See your GP for topical estrogen. It's very safe and it's in line to be available over the counter without a prescription (but not for a while yet.)

The stuff you are using now are moisturisers and lube type stuff and they don't actually tackle the problem of atrophy (which is shrinkage.) Estrogen reverses the changes.

Thankyou both of you x

Yep you need Ovestin or vagifem and if that still doesn’t solve it you can use Replens which is non hormonal on the days in between. A lot of people don’t give Replens a chance and write it off because initially it can give you a clumpy white discharge a bit like bits of tissue paper (!) but basically these are dead skin cells and if you keep going with it this will stop and it works really well after that. I use Ovestin twice a week and Replens on the other days. I am in early menopause due to autoimmune issues and I also have sjorgens syndrome which causes an extremely dry mouth, eyes and vagina.

@Bagelsandbrie Just so you know, there are many drs who say it's fine to increase the dose of Ovestin. The 2 days a week is a bit 'flexible'. Many women use it every other day or as needed to get relief. It is extremely weak- using it 2 x a week for a whole year is the same as 1mg systemic estrogen (that's a one-day dose).

@JinglingHellsBells Thank you Flowers

Flowers okay!

So I finally got hold of a doctor! And she has done me a prescription for something that sounded like Vagisan? I have to use it every day for a couple of weeks and then twice a week and then I have to come off it after a month or so she said. She said it’s not really a long-term thing. I’m not sure how that will help I’ll have to limit my sexy time to a couple of times a year? 🙈😆
I have been checked internally and everything is fine and I don’t know if I’m in perimenopause because I don’t have any of the other symptoms and I don’t get periods because I’m on the mini pill so it’s really hard to tell if I am.

I did not know that! I use oestrogen cream and vaginal moisturiser and was getting clumpy stuff in there, I presumed it was thrush Blush and have been using canesten, but it's not itchy. Now I'm wondering if that's what it is. Any links so I can read up on this? It's not helped by the fact I have a rectocele and ... the other one, can't remember the name - so it sort of collects in pouches either side of the bulge, iykwim ... tmi Blush . I was totally disgusted by myself Sad

Is your Gp expecting your hormones to magically reappear? I had the same conversation with the Dr and have now got a second box of Vagifem. Whoopee! Menopause is an optional part of medical training and they do show themselves up! The pharmacy I get my prescriptions from say you have to insist on what you need, and keep insisting basically for the rest of your life.
Thismumsaraver · 02/03/2022 20:28

I feel maybe the reason they don’t want to repeat the prescription is perhaps it comes with some sort of danger?

OP posts:
Tootsey11 · 05/03/2022 15:45

@Thismumsaraver danger??????

Giggorata · 05/03/2022 15:59

I have heard that these hormonal replenishes can contribute to/cause hair loss.

Does the non hormonal Replens also cause this?

Any info or ideas about this would be most helpful…

Thismumsaraver · 06/03/2022 11:53

Well yes usually when they don’t like to re-prescribe tablets it comes with some sort of danger e.g. side-effects should not use long-term for whatever reason. Hormone replacement whether this be on the same level as that comes with its dangers as well as the pill obviously the pill you can be a long-term but for her to say that I shouldn’t must have some reason for her saying that otherwise she would do a repeat prescription no problem. So that does make me wonder I’ll have to do a bit of research on that.

I haven’t read the sheet inside the box yet LOL dreading it I hate that with medication.

Thankfully I’ve got a lot of hair to loose my hair is mega thick. I mean it would be great if I lost the hair off my foofee 😁 bonus 👌🏻
