Episiotomy revision surgery

Hi all, looking for some advice please.

I had my DD 5 months ago, under very traumatic circumstances. I have been in pain ever since, sex has been a complete no as it's too painful and every day I'm sore and achey. My GP has referred me to the gynae for surgery to remove the scar tissue and redo the episiotomy, but the wait time for a referral is 47 weeks!! Let alone surgery.

I contacted Nuffield health today and was told procedure is c.£2.5k and I can have it done within 4 weeks.

Has anyone had the procedure? Is it worth scraping the funds and going privately?

TIA

I had it done privately, I was then under a medical insurance scheme.

It was definitely, definitely worth getting done.

That's an awful waiting time. I think (and mine was 15 + years ago) mine was a bit less than £2k so £2.5k sounds pretty good for private. (Though painful nonetheless).

Mine was also incredibly uncomfortable, I put up with it for a few months but I wouldn't have wanted to wait a year or so. I hope you can get yours sorted soon.

Mine is not 100% but I did have another child after, which probably doesn't help. If I hadn't had it sorted though, I'd not have had the next child though Grin

Hi OP,

Did you get the procedure done? I'm in the same situation now any wondering if it is worth it?
