Pain around ovulation

Every month around ovulation I get the most uncomfortable/painful feeling deep down in the bottom of my stomach (where you usually get period pains) I get the same feeling when I have sex and do a bowel movement (sorryBlush) and I get shooting pains up the bumHmm I normally just ignore it but it is especially painful this monthSad I have a copper coil if that makes any difference. Sorry for the tmi but it’s driving me mad

I’ve also just remembered and not sure if this is connected, but when I’m on my period I bleed from my bum tooBlush I did go to the gp about this and they referred me to the hospital but after many tests they couldn’t find a cause. Just wondering if this could be connected

I get this too and the pains in the bottom. I had a procedure to stop heavy periods 6 months ago and got sterilised so came off the pill, since then the pain has been worse.

What tests did you have?

I get ovarian cysts which can cause painful ovulation, sometimes they show up on a scan and other times not. The pain is awful and lasts 2 days.

@Lovemusic33 I had a colonoscopy but nothing was found. My DS is 11 months and when I had my 12 week scan they said there was a cyst on one of my ovaries but it wasn’t anything to worry about

I get pain and a small amount of bleeding some months. Also have copper coil. Have been investigated but said coil was in the right place and it must be hormonal

This is really common (doesn’t make it any better!) and it’s commonly known as Javelin Bum/ Javelin Arse on account of the shooting pains! There might be some things that make you a bit more comfortable on here: www.mumsnet.com/Talk/general_health/3360657-javelin-arse-i-have-javelin-arse-it-s-killing-me-what-helps

Google 'Mittelschmerz'. I get it every month, it's worse now I'm older (late 4Os), feels like a really deep stitch in the lower abdomen, swaps sides depending on which side I'm ovulating from I guess.
Sometimes it hurts to sit as everything kind of compresses, and I can feel it when walking. It disappears after a couple of days.

Blimey, sounds like you need medical attention to me.

Isntisironic1 · 07/02/2022 20:40

This sounds exactly like how I started. I have a large ovarian cyst and endometriosis. Get to the doctors as soon as you can, I’ve been on the waiting list to get it removed for 2 years

Oo I get this, mid cycle ‘period pain’ it feels like, and a bleeding butt just before my period. And occasional javelin arse during my period. It’s too hard to see anyone (gp) since covid so i’m just hoping it goes away. It hasn’t so far but I’m also not dead yet and it hasn’t got worse so I imagine it’s not too dangerous (been going on for months).

Endometriosis is a common cause of ongoing and or severe mid cycle pain or painful periods. I've also had "javelin arse" and the cause of that was endometriosis.

Any pain that is cyclical in nature should be checked out to see if endometriosis is present. For this you need to see a gynae (GP should refer you) as this issue is well outside a GPs general remit. Its usually only diagnosed through a keyhole surgery op called a laparoscopy; internal ultrasound scans and blood tests do not detect it.

My post applies to you too. Deep pain during sex can also be a marker for endometriosis being present.
