Should I get this checked?

I don’t want to waste anyone’s time especially as the NHS is so busy at the moment.

I’ve had a large lump at the side of my breast for over a year now. It is very visible. I thought it was fat but have lost 2 stone and it’s exactly the same.

Could it be anything nasty? Or probably just stubborn fat.
Thank you

Yrs definitely

Knittedfairies · 07/02/2022 12:05

You need to phone your GP immediately OP.

Allpenguinsarepingus · 07/02/2022 12:10

Yes.

MagicMatilda · 07/02/2022 15:42

Thank you. I wasn’t sure if I was being over the top as family think it’s nothing.

Called GP, no appointments…doh!

Did you tell them you have a lump in your breast? They should refer you under the 2 week pathway.

daisypond · 07/02/2022 15:50

Don’t be casual about this. Phone again, say you need an urgent appointment - tell them what it’s for.

notthatonethisone · 07/02/2022 15:53

Seriously? Did you say you'd found a lump?

My gps would rush me in. If no joy I'd try 111. They might be able to help. I don't normally advocate them as they tend to book me an ambulance whatever I ring about but in this case I think being over cautious might work in your favour

hashbrownsandwich · 07/02/2022 15:57

Brest lumps which have only just been found (under 4 weeks) usually aren't seen immediately unless there's other symptoms of concern.

However, OP, it's been there a long time and I think you should call Gp back and explain the lump has been there for the NiCE guideline time and it needs checking.

hopeishere · 07/02/2022 16:01

Yes definitely. As a pp days you need to be clear it's a lump in your breast.

Please dont listen to them, I cant believe they would be so blasé about it. Could be nothing OP but best to just have a check up Smile

You need to get an emergency appointment. I know you're probably just worried but you shouldn't be so passive about your health. You need to not care what your family thinks or be fobbed off by receptionists. This warrants an emergency appointment.

MagicMatilda · 08/02/2022 08:01

Thank you all for nudge! I have an appointment at 10am today :)

Good luck OP

Mostlyjustrunning · 08/02/2022 15:17

Hope it went ok

This thread has been on my mind for weeks, and I have only found it due to the update. How did your appointment go OP?

MagicMatilda · 24/04/2022 17:14

So sorry, I didn’t update and thank you for asking. A couple of appointments and checks later, found out it was nothing to worry about…just excess tissue. Such a weight of my mind and they were so good, I wouldn’t hesitate getting checked again.
