Missed mini pill usually no period, will I bleed?

Hi,

Recently I’ve been so busy with work and other things that I’ve found myself missing 2 of my desogestrel mini progesterone only pills in a month. I looked today and what should have been Sat turns out I was taking Fri so I’ve missed a pill over the last 4 days and haven’t even realised. The other pill I missed around 2 week ago.

I’ve been on it for over 6 years now and haven’t had a period on it, I’m sure I’ve probably missed the odd one or two but had no effects if I have. I’ve also been late but took it within the 12 hour window however on these two occasions I haven’t. I didn’t actually go on the pill for birth control purposes, I had really excruciating periods and I compete in competitive sports which really affected me. Since taking this pill I’ve been fine I’m just on edge that things may change now.

My worry is I’m going to randomly start bleeding or have a period since I’ve missed two this month. Stupid for me to forget I know but I’ve been really overwhelmed with life and even with my reminder on my phone I have forgot. Does anyone have any similar experience? Or could offer some advice?

The only answer is maybe.

When I started on it I could get away with it without bleeding.

Now I am mid forties and prob peri-menopausal, absolutely no way!

However nothing has ever resembled the excruciating periods I used to have.

I’ve done that before and not had a return to periods or any type of bleeding. I’m mid forties and also don’t use it for contraception so not quite so worried about late/missed pills as I would be.

@AnnaMagnani @Tronkmanton

Thank you for your responses! I’m not really worried about taking it for contraception, it’s more I’m scared I’ll be at the gym or at my sport and randomly start bleeding or at a social event! I usually take it really well and consistently just things recently have been so busy I’ve forgotten and not realised until the next day.

I agree when I first started I had spotting but I’ve never ever had the pain I had whilst on my periods on this, it has really been great for me. Also the inconvenience of bleeding and pain whilst trying to do high intensity exercise was unbearable! Hoping I don’t as I’ve got some events coming up that I don’t want to miss.

I missed one last week and have had some bleeding, but not like a period and not even really heavy enough to need a pad. More like spotting.
