Copper Coil

Hi everyone!
I'm at the end of my tether with the mini pill which I've been taking for 6 1/2 months now. Constant spotting and unpredictable bleeding. I started double dosing a few months ago as the nurse said this might help - it hasn't. I can't take the combined pill due to health conditions. I'm sick of giving it chance to settle down.
It has been recommended that I take the copper coil (as it doesn't have hormones).
I'm scared of the pain though of the insertion. And heavy periods (which I've not suffered with for years).
Do they really not give any other side effects?
Thanks.

Hi op. I had one fitted 3 months ago for the same reasons. The insertion was fine a bit of a cramp that lasted 20 seconds. The cramps for a few days where a bit stronger than period pains. A bit of spotting. Periods on month 1 and 2 where crazy heavy as I was warned however this month I am cramping and sitting so it might take a while to get a cycle back to normal.

Also the foggiest cleared I got my sex drive back and I just feel better in general. Good luck
