I have turned 60. I have been in good health all my life and have still felt fit & healthy until the last year. I have had really bad sciatica in my back/legs and hip in left side for 7 months. I am still taking codeine for it (due to small fracture in spine and some slipped discs at bottom of spine) I am having a bone density scan done. I have really high blood pressure (never had it before.. 6 pounds overweight which I am loosing by healthy eating (list 2lb this week) all blood tests have came back all OK but slightly up on cholesterol but doc said not to worry too much about it(I have been drinking a bit too much wine on a night due to lockdown/feeling sorry for myself/Christmas etc but have stopped now totally .. 3 +weeks but still blood pressure is very high,( filling a blood pressure sheet out for doctors at the moment ) never smoked. Exercise by swimming 3x a week and doing my allotment gardening all year round. I take vitamins also and eat healthy with lots of fruits and veg! Why do I feel so bloody shit and poorly all of the time😢 I sleep OK ish.. Drink lots of water during the day. Just a bit worried 😞

Chronic back ache would make you feel bad. That's amazing that you got to 60 before developing any persistent health problems! I'm younger than you & had many issues - they got better. Don't despair

No real advice but sounds like you're doing all the right things. Maybe it's just a question of time??

Btw I am jealous of only 6lbs to lose. I have about 4x that...

Thank you so much for answering Flowers, it's just stressful feeling so under the weather at the moment.. (god love you both for answering xx it means so much) ❤️🙏 I just don't feel right.. If you know what I mean.. I have started to stutter which I never have done since I was a child... I am also getting a bit forgetful ☹️ my husband has said he hasn't noticed anything different.. (but he would say that.. Bless him 😍) maybe it is getting older etc🤔 and I am expecting to be in the same health as I was in my 30-40s.Grin it's just that I have felt 'funny' in the last few weeks xx

It sounds like it definitely could be getting older, especially given you're (presumably!) post-menopausal!

Plus I think lockdown has had a huge effect. I feel like I've aged 10 years.

Just wanted to say a few words about sciatica. You say you're getting a bone density scan done - have you had all the necessary tests in relation to the sciatica diagnosis? And have you been given any suggestions for exercise options?

During lockdown I also developed serious issues around my hip, at times so bad I could barely walk. Mine is not sciatica or arthritis but is muscular. I have seen a number of different practitioners - massage, physios, etc - and have done a huge amount of online research. I've developed an exercise programme that has done a huge amount to improve mobility (mainly from my own research - I didn't find the physios to be particularly useful - it's hit and miss), plus I see a great practitioner who does pressure point work.

Anyway, just wanted to wish you luck, as I think lots of people feel very similar to you! Flowers

40 weeks pregnant and I’ve had severe rib pain for roughly 5 months now. I’ve had 2-3 hours sleep a night for these five months due to the extreme pain. My two concerns are will the pain be there during labour and will it continue after birth? No one medical seems at all interested in even acknowledging it is an issue let alone giving me any answers. Has anyone had similar for this length of time and did it go away?
