Referral to breast clinic

Hi,

I've had a referral to the breast clinic today for ongoing pain in my breasts / mainly right breast.

The doctor couldn't feel any lumps so not an urgent 2 week referral.

Has anyone been referred recently and can advise waiting times? I'm guessing could be a while due to covid?

I have been referred today but I have a history of cystic breast tissue and I have found a new lump which this time is in my armpit.

I may be wrong but I thought all breast clinic referrals are generally 2 weeks? I was told the 2 week pathway doesn't always mean anything sinister is suspected, but any issues have to be looked at quite quickly.

Depending on your age you will likely be given an ultrasound if you aren't old enough for a mammogram.

Hopefully you get seen soon x

Hi, thanks for replying.

I've checked my NHS app today and the doctor I saw has referred me on the 2ww so hopefully ill be seen within that!

I'm 32 so I think too young for a mammogram but hopefully an ultrasound will put my mind at rest.

thanks x

Hi I wondered if I could ask you something please. First of all I hope all went well with you. Sorry that you had to go through this. My question is about your mammogram. Did they do it on both sides? Or just the symptomatic breast ?

Thank you. They did the ultrasound on one side only and I couldn't remember mammogram. This was 6 years ago.

I've been referred to the breast clinic several times due to cystic breast tissue. I'm not eligible for a mammogram but they have always gave my an ultrasound on both breasts and armpits

I was seen at a breast clinic last week. I'll add my post when I find it. I was supposedly referred on 21 Dec under the 2 week wait, even though it was more a rope like lump- not a sinister lump. Almost 2 weeks later I'd heard nothing, but assumed with Christmas, there might be delays.

The GP didn't know when Id get an appointment, the hospital booking team had no idea nor the actual breast clinic who said they didn't have a referral! Around the houses again to call my GP and ask whether the referral had even been sent! Funnily enough, within days the breast clinic called for the appointment the following week.

All I'm saying if that if you haven't heard, chase it up!
