Mini pill for heavy periods

Life changing. For me, anyway, may not suit everyone. I've gone from soaking through a night pad in an hour to barely needing to change (although obviously do for hygiene!)

I've had years of investigations, scans, tests, tranexamic acid. And this is what's fixed it. As I say, may not be for everyone, but I've seen a few posts recently referencing heavy periods, so thought I'd put this here. Maybe it'll help someone.

(For reference, I'm 42. GP says she has patients turning 50 still on it. Apparently blood pressure is very important, but mine is low)

Hi, did this happen quickly for you? I have just finished my first month of the mini pill and my current period is not very different to the last one Sad

Monkeytiger · 14/01/2022 17:59

A couple of months for me. The first period was a slight improvement, but the second one was much better, and kind of reminded me how things used to be before they got bad. Fingers crossed for your next one!

Brilliant thanks. I will keep my fingers crossed for next month (or that they stop completely!)

Good luck with it, but I found it didn't work for me Sad

I'm on combined pill now and it is great. My periods were usually 8-9 days long with a 2 week gap and then another 8-9 day period. Also very heavy at points. Now I have a normal length, normal heaviness period once a month and that's it. I'm 38 and a bit overweight, so doctor had to prescribe it for me, and I even saw a private gynaecologist who examined me and recommended combined pill as well. So, a bit of a faff, but it has been life changing.
