Had my smear today, and the nurse doing it said I had a lot of discharge and was this normal for me Confused I’m a bit of a worry worm, has anyone else been told this? Is this something nurses see/comment on a lot?!

No experience of being told I had discharge but I was asked if I'd had a baby so god knows what she seen 😂
I suppose depending where you are in your cycle could explain it?
Have you noticed more yourself? Is it normal for you?
Obv everyone's bodies are different some women will produce more or less than others.

BlueSky8 · 12/01/2022 21:32

Too add, I did have a baby.

Peachcheeks · 12/01/2022 21:38

Haha, how on Earth could she tell! I haven’t noticed anything myself Blush and she didn’t say anything else after that!

I was told the same during a smear test and my result was totally normal .... and has been since. Try not to worry, I'm sure it will all be just fine x

Thank you @xxreeldancerxx much appreciated.

I produce loads of discharge, I assumed it was normal (and it is for me) but according to some threads on MN, not for everyone!

Don't worry, she just meant what she said, is this a normal level of discharge for you or is it new? If it's normal then there's nothing wrong. If you have a change in discharge then you should get it seen :)

Nurse here. Every woman is different, which is why she asked - if you’d have said no, it’s unusually heavy, then she’d have taken a swab for testing in case of infection. But if that’s normal for you then no need. I’ve seen it all, from bone dry to the other extreme!

I was told the same, must have been my fertile days. However I'm sure they'll have seen it before but the fact they mention it makes you panic.
My result was fine though, they can never find my cervix too which is another joy.

Thanks everyone, you’ve put my mind at rest!
