Spotting and stomach cramps with Coil

Flowertailbird · 11/01/2022 06:50

Hello

I have had a coil fitted for over 8 years now, (5 years for one, then this one removed and another one put in 3 years ago). I have had no periods, no spotting at all throughout all this time but recently I have irregular spotting and also stomach pains/cramps which remind me of period pains.

Has anyone else had this and if so, what was the reason?

I am in the processing of getting a dr's appointment to have this looked at but in the meantime if I could pick your brains as to what this could be I would really appreciate it.

OP I'm experiencing exactly the same.
I've had a coil for 11 years, this one since last March

Recently I've had constant bleeding and low dragging pain

My GP is seeing me today

She's taken bloods, swabs and physical exam which revealed some tenderness I didn't know I had
Over my left ovary which is always problematic and seems to have cysts, then no cyst

My CA125 is always slightly raised

I just don't feel right so I know what you mean! We know our bodies

Did you get to see your GP

TAW

Have you not been referred to a gynae for further evaluation?. I ask as such problems are often well outside a GPs remit.

TomAllenWife · 11/01/2022 16:20

@AttilaTheMeerkat yes I was seeing him every 6m

It's now yearly

We have a good relationship and I can email him directly if needed

I saw my GP today, internal examination, coil apparently in right place. Also had bloods taken and an ultrasound is being arranged. I'm worrying myself stupid. GP says it might be to do with menopause but we will see when results come back. Thank you for your update TAW x

@Flowertailbird I'm starting to blame everything on the menopause
My excruciating anxiety, paranoia, mood swings, desire to drink from lunchtime
Honestly feel like I'm going crazy

Flowertailbird · 11/01/2022 21:05

You and me both!
