Desogestrel Pill - bleeding between periods

Hi All,

Has anyone experienced this before?

I started Desogestrel about 2 months after baby was born by c-section, GP said some spotting between periods would be normal, especially for the first few months, but I’ve been taking it for 6 months now & it’s still happening. It’s maybe once or twice a month between periods, & feels like more than spotting, more like a mini period, along with cramps.

I’m going to try to get an appt with my GP this week but just interested to hear from anyone else who has experienced this & any solutions?

I had 3 weeks of no bleeding, then a bleed when I would have been due a period, then about 10 days of no bleeding and then I bled for 11 weeks non-stop on it before I finally decided enough was enough!! Ironically i was prescribed it to supposedly help reduce / eliminate heavy bleeding

Oh @emmathedilemma 11 weeks sounds horrendous!! I’m sure you were completely exhausted & fed up, I feel like that after on & off these last few months never mind that long in a row. How did you find your cycle after stopping it?

Touch wood but it's been better than it was before....still quite short cycles and long days of bleeding but not as heavy as it had been. I suspect I'm peri menopausal though and the bleeding issues I had due to fibroids were actually part of it.

I bled on and off constantly just taking desogestrel alone so I had the Depo injection too alongside it and all bleeding has stopped
