Mirena coil. No period but bad cramps

I’ve had the Mirena in for about 5/6 months now. I have no periods at all. But the cramping is awful, I can barely move due to the pain.
Every so often I spot the tiniest amount (mostly just after sex). And sex usually hurts too - I think it’s my partner hitting the coil.

Is this anything to worry about? Should I get it checked?

I can still feel the strings, so I know it’s still there. I just cannot cope with the pain. It’s more intense now than before, although I have always had pretty bad cramps before the coil too.

Co-codamol doesn’t help

Are the cramps only around the time your period would be due or do you get them throughout the month? I'd get it checked as it could have moved and not be in the right position. Mine gave me period pains like I'd never had in my life before but it also didn't stop me bleeding (that got worse too!).

Speak to your GP with a view to having it removed, or getting it checked to see that it remains in the right position.

Personally, I am not a fan of the mirena coil, as I bled for a full 13 months on it with doctors simply saying "give it more time" incessantly.

It works well for some people and not for others, although if you listen the NHS it is the panacea for everything. It is a very marmite type of thing. Some love it and swear by it, others hate it and swear at it. I was in the latter category.
