Mirena affecting blood pressure

So I'm 44 and have recently had a mirena coil fitted and started HRT as I am starting to experience peri-menopause symptoms. Previously I was on the combined pill, but advised to come off it due to being overweight and therefore at risk of clot.

After 72 hours of having the coil, stopping the pill and starting the hrt, my blood pressure went through the roof. I had only had it checked 4 weeks previously and it was ok (perhaps the higher end of ok). I have therefore now been put on blood pressure medication. The GP tried to say they don't normally see a reaction like that - but it can't just be coincidence 🤷🏻‍♀️

Has anyone else experienced this? I just wish I hadn't started messing around with things 🙄
