Sex and thrush HELP

kittykat818 · 24/12/2021 17:24

Hi all. I seem to get thrush every time I have sex. I have tried treating myself and my partner every time I get infected but it always just comes back. We always use the pull-out method so my Ph is less disturbed and we have tried condoms but I find these very irritating. I never used to get thrush before becoming sexually active and both myself and my partner are only sleeping with each other. I have tried using multigyn gel to restore my Ph after sex and this does help but hasn't fixed the issue. My partner has slept with other girls before me and not had any issues with them but he is my first partner so I am worried there is an issue with me or that our bodies are just not compatible. I wash with only water, use nonscented toilet paper, and have been tested for diabetes/HIV etc. I even tried coming of hormonal contraception in case this was trigger. Has anyone else had this problem with a partner and managed to resolve it. I am very happy in the relationship and thrush is our only major issue and it has been an issue for four years now with very little relief despite long courses of treatment and many visits to the gynecologist. Thanks for any help in advance.

I have also tried probiotics and tried the candida diet for a few weeks but this didn't seem to have any impact.

Do you use lube? If you do, are you sure that it is totally sugar free?

Yes lubricants are good, and made a huge difference for me, as did switching from tampons to a menstrual cup.

What treatment is he having? Has he taken the tablet for it as well as cream?

@EgonSpengler2020 Hi, we don't tend do but we did previously try YES lube as this is perfume-free etc, maybe I need to try to use that again.

I stopped wearing tampons about a year ago and switched exclusively to pads but I have bought a moon cup and I am going to try it this month!

@midlifecrash Hi, yes he has tried with the cream as well as fluconazole. He only seems to get symptoms if I have passed it back to him.

I should also mention he is not circumcised, so maybe this could be an issue?
