No period for 4 months - not pregnant

Hi all. I've been so worried about what's going on as I've had no periods since beginning of Aug 2021 so 4 months now! Not looking to have children for another year or 2 but still concerned about what could be going on. I've been to the GP and he said all my bloods have come back normal and I'm on the waiting list for ultrasound which is about 3 months on the NHS. I rang up doctors today to chase a second blood test result and the receptionist said my iron levels are normal and that I won't need an appt but I questioned how she can dictate if I need an appt or not?! I said it was done as part of an investigation and clearly there is more to investigate. Anyway after all that they had no appts left for the day anyway! My periods have been erratic for about 4 or 5 years now and can start between 4 to 7 weeks of the last one. But I've never missed a period for more than 8 weeks. No signs of PCOS as I've had an ultrasound for this few years back with irregular periods and recent blood works normal. Nothing significant has happened in my life this year really apart from regular career stress and general anxiety which I've had since like 8-9 years. I'm happily married but my sex drive is incredibly low. I could literally not do it again and it wouldn't bother me. I just don't know what could be going on!! Anyone experienced anything similar?

Hmm might be worth speaking to your GP if it doesn't show in the next month. It's been 12 months for me and they didn't even remotely take me seriously until it had been 3.

@rosydreams Hi I've just been through this thread and like you not had a period since Nov, has yours come yet?
I've had bloods and show a high fsh but not very conclusive as done at a random point in my cycle. I know consultant gynae and he said not too worry, repeat bloods after 4 weeks and maybe try the pill for a month to restart things. I want another baby though so have booked a private fertility appointment because I'm inpatient. I'm 34. Periods were regular.

@stardust1994
Hey!! Apologies for the late reply - well my periods restarted again December 2021 and pretty much more normal with an episode of starting 1 week after finishing in March 2022 but generally they have gotten more and more regular. However, I have PCOS diagnosed and a teeny tiny fibroid that most likely isn't causing any problems. I had a gynae appt too not long ago to discuss extreme period pains which I've been on 60mg of codeine for a year now. Gynae said she suspects I have endometriosis but won't do a laprascopy as treatment advice would remain the same which is to go on the pill as it does help my period pains. Hope you're doing well❤️

Thanks so much for the reply @Miamoo134. What advice did they give you for when you want to try to conceive or did they not?

I am well thank you. I hope you have a nice weekend 😊

Miamoo134 · 21/01/2023 10:40

No advice at all - just said that if I try and don't manage to get pregnant then to go back to my GP and they advise I get referred back to gynae for a potential laprascopy. Right now I still don't know for sure what causes the extreme pain - don't like to say I have endo when it might not even be that!
