How much did you bleed after mirena removal?

I went to have my coil changed yesterday, but unfortanately after removing my old one they were unable to sucessfully fit a new one. I now have to wait until February and have it done at the hospital instead.

I have had moderate bleeding with clots since, which seems to be getting heavier.

Wanted to check if others bled a lot after their mirena was removed or if it's something I need to keep an eye on if it doesn't stop in the next couple of days. I'd ask the GP but it's nigh on impossible to get through on the phone! Thanks

Just a standard period really

Thanks, I think maybe I'm forgetting what a normal period is like as I haven't had one in the five years I've had a mirena fitted. It actually seems to have settled a bit this morning too so I'm sure all fine.

Far less than I did when I had the awful thing in. I bled for the entire 13 months it was in, often heavily. Once it was removed it stopped within a few days.

Just had one replaced and had a couple of days of spotting and nothing else. I am 50 though. Although they did say I'd probably have a bleed.

No bleeding at all. I was 53 and as I haven't had a period since it came out, it had obviously seen me through the menopause. I didn't have a period at all when it was in either. Removal was easy and painless, one quick tug by my GP and out it came.

Thanks all, very varied responces so guess there isn't really a 'norm'. It has made me realise how much easier it's been not having the hassle of periods for a few years though, can't wait to get my new one fitted!
