Wearing tampons with thrush

So this week I am pretty sure I’ve suffered with my first bout of thrush. I think I’ve got it because I had sex a few weeks ago after a while.

It’s been pretty horrible… and then my bloody period started yesterday!! I hate wearing pads so have tried to persevere wearing tampons, but I am finding it so painful to wear them. I can insert them fine but then I can feel this like burning / stinging sensation. It sounds weird but if push my bum, it’s like I can feel something there? Also if I sit down. Is this normal? And should I be avoiding tampons whilst with thrush?

Also just to add, I took a tablet on Monday, inserted the pessary on Wednesday and am using the external cream too. Doesn’t seem to be doing much 😢

just don't use tampons when you have thrush!
however if the standard treatments aren't working maybe its not thrush
thrush has a quite distinctive smell, as I recall, yeasty

Put live yogurt on the tampon!

What makes you think it’s thrush? What symptoms do you have? I ask because if you’ve taken the tablet and pessary it should be starting to clear by now. Maybe it’s more of a UTI especially if there’s burning and stinging?

I suffer with recurrent thrush due to autoimmune issues and take Fluconazole regularly.

You will also need to treat your partner with canestan cream as well if it is thrush otherwise you’ll be passing it back and forth to each other.

Don’t use tampons whilst you are sore, the skin will be inflamed regardless of what’s causing it.

Ouch.

Tampons and thrush is awful.

I did once try putting canestan on it but it makes the tampon less absorbant (obv!) and it was still awful.
