In the middle of it, there's a pause, no bleed for nearly a day, why does this happen?

I don't know, but I have the same, ever since my first one.

Bangkokbaby · 24/11/2021 09:11

I have the same, always have. I asked the GP and was sent for an ultrasound but everything was fine.

PermanentlyDizzy · 24/11/2021 09:24

I have the same, 7 day period, but no bleeding at all on day 3. I have no idea why, but have read, in some cases, it can be caused by having a retroverted uterus, which I also have. It’s never caused me any problems, so I don’t worry about it. (I’m peri-menopausal, so I figure if there was a problem I would probably know about it by now.)

I also read it can happen with endometriosis, when tissue dislodges and temporarily blocks the cervix.

Goodness I thought this was only me! I have no other issues, super normal periods and fertility

welliwasntexpectingthat · 24/11/2021 10:03

This is reassuring. I do have a large (apparently!) and tilted uterus but this pause is new. Thanks

I have this and the same as a PP also have a retroverted uterus. Never occurred to me that the two could be linked in any way, but it's interesting as a possibility.

WaterBottle123 · 24/11/2021 10:21

No idea if mine is tilted but I did have two large babies via natural birth without any bother

dorothygaleandtoto · 24/11/2021 11:03

I had the same (pregnant now and no idea what'll happen afterwards). I bleed for three days, nothing on the fourth, and then a final bleed on day five.

SignOnTheWindow · 24/11/2021 11:07

Yep, me too. Usually 3rd or 4th day. Never been told there is anything different about my uterus.

PanettoneSeason · 24/11/2021 11:09

@welliwasntexpectingthat Another one here 🙋🏻‍♀️ never thought anything of it tbh - it’s been that way since I started when I was 10 🤷🏻‍♀️ Was told when I went in to deliver DS1 last year that my uterus was tilted quite far back - had never been mentioned before that and have no idea if it’s in any way related!

If it’s new for you then it could be worth getting checked just for peace of mind OP 😊

totallytotalled · 24/11/2021 11:34

Yup me too!

ElvisPresleyHadABaby · 24/11/2021 11:47

I get this! Usually the day before the end, and used to lull me into putting some nice knickers on under my jeans. Sneaky bastardise uterus.

JinglingHellsBells · 24/11/2021 18:24

Me too, was often caught out when younger. A few days of heavy-ish then nothing for a day then another day or so light.

Bluebellfae · 26/11/2021 06:31

I get this it started age 38. Day 4 it dissapears and I get a welcome break for about 18 hours then its back with pain. Im suspected endometriosis my laposcropy is next week. I also have a tilted womb

BigbreastsBiggerbeard · 01/12/2021 20:15

Another one that's always had this. Bleed for three days then a blank fourth day and it starts again on the fifth. Sometimes it's the third day that's blank.

Hodl · 01/12/2021 20:19

Ooh yes I have this too. I'm late 40s so presume it's to do with peri. At my smear a few months ago the nurse said my cervix was very high so may be to do with that?

Charlieandlola · 01/12/2021 20:25

Same here . Paused on day 3 or 4, the back for a day or two . Started a couple of years ago and assumed it was menopause related so haven’t worried about it . No idea on the position of my uterus - kept two children safe inside me so I’m very grateful to it .

ImInACage · 01/12/2021 20:31

Me too, day three is always missed. For me this started after having DC2.

Tempusfudgeit · 01/12/2021 20:44

It's a clot caught in the neck of your cervix. After a while it shifts and the blood flows again.

Pleasedonteliminate · 01/12/2021 20:49

Me too and sometimes it still catches me out!

PanettoneSeason · 01/12/2021 20:50

@Tempusfudgeit A clot that just happens to get caught on the same day of every cycle?! Surely that can’t be right!

Same here, ever since I had an endometrial ablation last year. Weird to find this thread - I'd been wondering about this today and had intended to google it!
