Can kidney infection pain come and go?

Last night I got a pain in my back to the right side it lasted a few hours I thought perhaps a pulled muscle or something. It went away after I took pain killers. This morning Iv took my children off to school and came home and it’s started up again in my back in the same place. I do think I perhaps I had a UTI it was a bit stingy when I pee sometimes but not bad enough to call the gp and it’s only been sometimes for the last few weeks. Now I’m laying down with my hot water bottle and have taken pain killers. Could this be a kidney infection or would the pain have been constant from yesterday?

The pain is not always constant, if you feel poorly enough to need painkillers, it's probably worth giving the GP a call. Kidney infections can run root if not treated, and you can feel very sick quite quickly.

Drink lots of water, if you pass any blood or are in a lot of pain I’d ring your GP.
